Baruto Kaito alias Kaido Höövelson (born on November 5, 1984) is probably the most well known Estonian in Japan. His homeland is about 40 km from Rakvere, in Laekvere.
Since 2004 Kaido is the member of Japanese Professional Sumo League (Mihogaseki-beya).
He finished his first basho as a Juryo sekitori with the record 12-3.
The organizing of an internationally significant competition is a great honour for all of Estonia. This opportunity was given to Rakvere by the new sports hall as well as the "blond man in the sumo ring", or Estonian Kaido Höövelson, who has joined the Japanese Professional Sumo League and who wrestles under the name Baruto.
The 1.97-meter-tall, 172-kilo wrestler from the Rakvere vicinity has made one of the most successful debuts in Japanese sumo history. The people of West-Viru County also have chosen the achievement of their sumo professional in the sumo rings of Japan as the year`s achievement for 2005.
